Common questions

When does Pennsylvania stock pheasants?

The Game Commission releases pheasants in rounds from October: a youth round, a preseason round, then in-season rounds, county by county. We email the week a round is planned for your county or the counties near you, from the Game Commission’s own allocation pages.

Which states do you cover for pheasant stocking?

Pennsylvania by county and week, New Hampshire’s stocking days, Connecticut’s release pattern across 38 areas, and Massachusetts at 151 release sites.

When do deer, turkey and bear seasons open?

It depends on the state, the zone and the year. We email every deer, turkey and bear opener a week ahead for your place in all eight states we cover, from each state’s own season dates.

Are there leftover antlerless licenses in my WMU?

In Pennsylvania, often, until they sell out. From June to January we email when your WMU’s antlerless licenses are running low, sell out or come back on sale, from the state’s own counts.

When do ducks move through?

Usually on north to northwest morning winds behind a cold front, after a freeze farther north (Bellrose, 1957; Schummer and others, 2010). From October to January we email when the forecast says the next morning or two should bring that.
